Awesome tacos! I had beef, chicken and grouper tacos. All were great! The habenero salsa was hot and yummy. I will be back!

Great FRESH Mexican food. Service was also great. Our waitress was prompt and great to our kids.

Great. Had a mahi mahi burrito with habanero salsa. Had the perfect amount of everything in it. I'm very picky. Hard to impress. It was great. Really. Just visiting the area but will be back before I go. But daddy I want one now! And it's actually a business in Punta Gorda that's open 7 days a week and doesn't close at 3pm! (rawrRRR)

Popped in here with the family and, ho hum, it was just OK. Between the 4 of us, we got a pretty good variety of tacos. I was digging on swine that day so I got a couple different kinds of pork tacos. there wasn't a lot of meat on them (actually very inconsistent) and overall, OK sums it up about right. We sat outside (the only ones outside) and from what I understand, it must have been slamming inside because that's all our waitress talked about as she apologized for leaving us hanging with no drinks, refills, taking our order, following up, etc. Prices are good but it's a frigging taco! Best part of the meal was the truck full of locals that drove by and yelled "Jimmy's sucks"! I might be that guy next time!!

Horrible. Nothing had flavor. Chips n queso, chips were so salty that u could not eat them. Got three tacos. Served in about 1/8 of inch of some type of liquid. Come on!! Rice was out of a box. Refrained beans had no flavor!! Travel north to a better Mexican restaurant in port charlotte!!

Awesome food and most unique layout. Cold beer and excellent food. What more could you want???

To begin with the tacos were awesome and I would be back for that simple fact. What made me give this place a 3 star was the service. Our waiter was polite and helpful, however the food took FOREVER and there were only 6 ppl there. They also got my hubbies order wrong. I also wish they had TVs inside, this would be a great spot to watch a soccer game. That being said, the pork taco was sooo yummy. I also had the Mahi Mahi and chicken which were good too. Next time I may just take the tacos to go.

Excellent taco spot. Had the mahi mahi supreme tacos which were fresh and delicious. The salasa is home made and great. All around a good spot to get some authentic mexican.

Little whole in the wall but worth a try. Great burritos and taco selections. Soft corn tortillas, good cilantro/ onion mix for the toppings. Pork was good, fish is hit or miss. When it was good it was awesome, but when it was bad, ugh I wasn't even able to swallow the taste in my mouth was awful. Service was friendly, until we called in to let them know about the fish. Thing is we were in Port Charlotte already at a friends and weren't asking for a refund but the lady on the phone was offended and insisted she had cut the fish fresh herself. We didn't even get an "I'm sorry". Regardless we just didn't want someone else to get served bad fish! Only other negative is the chips. I would pass on any item with tortilla chips, tosititos are better. All and all I would recommend stopping by for a burrito and a beer.

The tacos were real good, you can get them with cheese and sour cream for a dollar extra. Average taco price is $2.50 I had the chorizo, carne asada and the pork. All were tasty. The chips and salsa were kinda a joke. The chips seemed like they were from a bag and not very good, the salsa was a green sauce that seems like they made it, it was kinda good but they didn't give a very large portion. They did refill my small salsa cup for free. The have mostly canned drinks but do have Arizona Iced tea cans and lipton they brew themselves. Total was just above $10 with drinks, 3 tacos and salsa. It's a good place to stop off the highway it's about a 5 minute drive, the place is kinda hard to see from the road, look back in the empty lot. Use your GPS. Their menu doesn't show burritos or quesadillas but the board on the wall does. The music is a mixed bag and is pretty bad.

Being a former employee I think that public should be aware that about 80 percent of all food that comes into that restaurant doesn't come from a USDA supplier or certified it comes from a food stand in Arcadia called K&J where it is sold on the corner and never USDA inspected or any way inspected and is not to be bought and commercially used and the owner months back posted stated there was a price increase due to an increase from her supplier where in all reality it is purchased from the cheapest place a food market on the corner in Arcadia the Florida health inspectors have been made aware of this and are following up but in my time of employment there I had seen inspectors in regulare every couple months always checking invoices to find out where her food was coming from because this is been an ongoing problem and there's been numerous health code violations that have happened and keep happening and are only fixed while the inspector is there till later not be followed once again in the entire restaurant only one person is even food certified who is not there 24 /7 so when they are not there no one is certified to make sure safe food handling skills are being used I am just writing this because I think the public should be aware of this and that the food that is being served in jimmys taco is not certified or possibly safe since it's never inspected and should not ever be used to serve to the public.

Terrible food, cold tasteless watery burrito, nasty brown guacamole. the service was good.

  • Jason P.

Punta Gorda, is apparently deprived of good mex. This place is subpar Mexican food, even for Florida. The meat and fish is average, their green salsa is unique and has great flavor. They will up charge you for things that are standard on basic on a 2.50 taco. They are also stingy with the portions. I've never had tacos with so little on them. The service was good, I just wish the food was better.

Down visiting relatives, we stopped by for an early dinner. It's exactly what you'd expect, a bit of a hole in the wall, but in an area that's not sketchy. We were glad we stopped. The burritos were excellent, and the serving size just perfect. The chips and salsa were good (chips could be better, but no real complaints, rojo salsa has just enough kick). The fresh brewed ice tea wasn't great, but that's not why we stopped. Overall Jimmy's is a secret gem that's worthy!

  • Chris F.

Jimmy's is the place for real Mexican tacos! This is NOT Lupe's Tacos. If you're thinking this is that place (with the jerk son/crabby mom ownership) then I can assure you they have been out of this location for over a year now. The tacos start at $2.50 and go up to about five bucks each depending on meats/toppings. Everything here is fresh, not frozen, and made to order. The burritos are my new favorite, along with a Corona Familiar (which I can't seem to find anywhere else). The plaza is easy to find, it's on the right hand side of US41 heading north... Look for the RED paint at the end of the building. I think they close the dining room at 10 pm, but the bar/shutter stays open late. You should eat Jimmy's Tacos!

If there was a 10 star....Jimmy's would get it. Being raised in Texas I have eaten Mexican food since I could chew. I can tell you there is nothing more authentic than Jimmy's. The menu is simple....tacos or burritos...beer, soda, water..... I had the carne asada and the pollo with the "regular" toppings. My mouth was transported back to my youth in Texas! I will be there every week just to enjoy!

We took a variety of tacos to go one hot Saturday evening. The counter service was excellent--very friendly and accommodating. The prized tacos came out quickly in nicely packaged Styrofoam boxes and then bags--two tacos per box. The walk home was torture! I quickly unwrapped and photoed for the site. The food was warm and well seasoned. The portabello was filled with nice, big chunks of mushrooms--very good! Hearty! The shrimp was chock-o-block full of small shrimp, great flavor and a very good deal. The fish was a white fish, it was good. All were chomped up and enjoyed. If you are in Punta Gorda, be sure to swing by Jimmy's -- it's open ALMOST 24 hours -- 10am-1:30am.

    (5)
  • Sam L.

The only downside to Jimmy's is the length of the wait for takeout! It took over 20 minutes for 4 tacos! Crazy. But the food was good, so it made up for the wait.

  • Mc K.

    - Service: OKAY - Food: DISAPOINTING, I was expecting to get some authentic tacos, but I felt that their average selection was sub par to Taco Bell. (Owner if you are reading add some authentic stuff like horchata (rice milk), tacos de lengua, and more fl

Two words... WOW & YUM! More words... Born & raised in So Cal, so after living in Florida for about 6 years I really missed authentic street tacos. I found it here. Had the regular shrimp taco in little corn tortillas with a scrumptious green cilantro salsa. Couldn't be happier right now! Awesome service too... Crystal was great and very helpful.

Skip all the restuarants in the area, this taco stand makes everything fresh. I stayed in town for 3 weeks on business and I walked there every night to get a mahi and pork taco. Delicious

My fiancé and I decided to try Jimmy's Tacos a couple weeks ago. It was a Sunday and close to 6:15. We could tell that the server was not thrilled we showed up, as we saw the sign stating the restaurant closed at 7:00 (we were sitting outside at the counter). Our server came to take our order and I wanted the three taco special with a draft beer for $13.25, which was written on a white board offered from 4-close. I was told that they no longer are doing the special because "she" no longer offers it (whomever "she" is) said our male server. I thought that's pretty odd since it's posted, yet not offered. Not to mention it's written on a white board...so if it's not offered, erase it. No biggie, I moved on and got the three tacos from the menu, which were good. However, we also ordered chips with queso and guacamole for my fiancées quesadilla, both the queso and guacamole were out. At about 6:45, a group of three showed up and they were told that the restaurant was already closed because chemicals had already been put on the burner to clean it. If a business is open until 7:00, then it should stay open until 7:00 even if someone shows up at 6:59 because that's customer service. The food we had was decent but the customer service was not something I would want to return to when you're paying not only for food but service when you go out to eat.

Their ad claims delivery, but alas they have no delivery and no real online menu.

excellent fish tacos. fresh ingredients on your choice of corn, flour or hard shell. exterior of the restaurant does not do this place justice. generously sized-- 2 fish tacos was more than enough.

  • Garrett Q.

Some of the best street style tacos I have ever had. This place is a tiny shack off the beach but it is well worth it.

    (5)
  • Flagg T.

We have lived all over the country including Arizona and California and this is the best food we have had in a long time. Everything is fresh, homemade and made to order. None of the plastic cheese and mystery meat so common at fast food and other "Tex-Mex" type restaurants. We never leave feeling stuffed but rather feeling that we have had a healthy, delicious and reasonably priced meal.

  • Melissa S.

I had a shrimp quesadilla about a week ago and I'm still thinking about how good it was and how I can work in a trip to Jimmy's again this week. Everything is very fresh and made to order and the green salsa is a wonderful alternative to run-of-the-mill salsa that is served everywhere else. Jimmy's is centrally located in the downtown Punta Gorda bar and restaurant district and is open until at least 2am so it's perfect for a late night snack.

  • John J.

Ok. Down on vacation and was looking for a snack to hold us over for dinner. We tried their wednesday special "buffalo chicken tacos". Man these were some of the best tacos I've ever had. Be sure to stop in here, set outside and enjoy some fabulous tacos.

    (5)
  • Stacey M.

I had the shrimp tacos and they were good but nothing all that special. I agree with other reviewers that the chips although warm seemed to be out of a bag. The salsa was average as well. Our waitress was very nice though.

I got here early ( 11:30ish ) and ordered 2 tacos and a beer.. I sat at the small, but ample outside bar and was the only one there.. Taco's came quickly and they were just OK.. The corn tortilla soft shell didnt seem quite fresh. Sort of wilted and day old. Maybe because I was early and got yesterdays taco shells?? The ingredients did seem like quality, but everything seemed day old... I really I think I hit this place at the wrong time of day.. I'll try again for late lunch or early dinner.

First time here today as a quick curious stop and wanted to write a review to say I'll be back! I only stopped at the window/outside bar (beer/wine only) and although it is in the middle of the parking lot honestly it felt like I was sitting at a little beach taco shack-lol, I don't know why. Everything I could see looked very clean and although no staff was in sight someone came right out. The girl was super nice. She told me the specials right away and when I asked for a recommendation told me her favorite. On her advice I got a steak and chicken burrito-add guacamole. I had my choice of pinto or black beans and took pinto. I waited maybe five minutes for the order to be made and in the meantime the owner (?) came in and said hello and asked if I'd been helped and so did one other girl. I took my order to go. Service was above average in both speed and friendliness/knowledgeable. Food was better than I'd expected. Seemed very fresh-all except for the limes that came with it (really only negative I can think of) which weren't inedible just past their prime (think of old bar fruit). Burrito was almost too big to eat myself. Had rice, beans, steak and chicken, cilantro, salsa verde, romaine lettuce, onions and sour cream. I added guacamole as well. Steak was well marinated and nice taste/texture/cut. The tortilla had a char on it like it had been grilled which was nice. The server also warned me about the toothpicks holding it together. I would definitely stop back here again for a quick lunch and try the tacos. I'd probably give it another star too if they keep up the good work and the next thing I get is as good as this. Overall first impression was much better than most places around here. They also take credit cards and get this-are pet friendly : ) Thank you for friendly service.

I found my new favorite place for tacos! The only problem, next time I go I want to try the burrito, but won't be able to resist the taco. I had 1 carne asada (steak) and 1 chicken - both with the extra fixings (I think it was super - $1 extra per). I liked both, but the carne asada was definitely better. Very tasty!! The music/ambience wasn't good though. They should give up on the mexican music and just pipe the country music from the kitchen to the rest of the place.

Passing thru town,we found this small taco stand. Everything was great. Friendly service, great tacos and the salsas were excellent.

We loved our service and the food. Great fish burritos. You should try them out.

  • Martin T.

One of my favorite places to eat. Go at least once a week. Chorizo quesadilla. Yum. This place is great for lunch and they always have specials. I have taken a few out of town friends too. Very good.

    (5)
  • James P.

Very good tacos at this place, but lunch service was one guy (eventually another server as well, but mostly just this one dude) who took forever to hit all the tables scattered around. Also the prices listed on our menu were wrong - everything was a bit more expensive. This was explained with the "prices subject to change" line printed at the bottom of the menu, although with an unlaminated single page paper menu, one would think they could be updated more frequently to reflect changing prices. So, good food, not so good everything else. See ya Jimmy.

  • Mandy W.

Delicous, fresh food at an unbeatable price. The portion is huge and they do not skimp. Honestly, I worry how they stay in business charging this cheap for great food! But I am grateful nonetheless. We have been there twice within the first month after the move. Will be back again!

I normally trust yelp reviews and I find them fairly accurate but in this case they could not be more wrong. The people that have left good reviews must have a pretty low standard for food quality. It was the worst restaurant experience I have had in years, from service to the actual taste of the food, even the appearance of everything we ordered was very disappointing. We were in a group of 4 and were the only ones at the restaurant and it took over 1.5 hours. Even the chips and queso tasted like velveta queso and packaged chips from Walmart. I couldn't not have been more disappointed and I don't want to even begin with how bad the food tasted. We threw away most of the meal.

  • John K.

Found on yelp after renewing my concealed weapons carry permit. Guns & tacos yeah! Great hidden local spot. Had 2 blackened fish tacos on soft corn tortillas, 1 mahi, 1 grouper, they came stuffed and were loaded with flavor! Also very healthy option! Each taco was only $4 ea.... Great value & service was friendly. Nothing fancy inside but not important when looking for awesome fresh fish tacos! Food first!..

Tried the Steak taco, Shrimp Taco, and the Ground beef taco. The Steak Taco was the best, Shrimp, then the Ground beef taco. Server, Zach, was very polite and attentive. Very good service!

Sad to see that Jimmy's Tacos has fallen short since I was a regular 2-3 years ago. Stopped by on an uneventful Thursday night in PG. Staff was friendly. Ordered one beef taco, one chicken tinga taco, and an order of guacamole. All disappointed including the beloved habanero sauce I previously raved about. They must have changed the recipe of the sauce, the beef taco was rather unimpressive but much better than the chicken tinga, which reminded me of boiled pulled chicken. The guacamole, though very reasonably priced for the amount I was given, was bland even lacking the salt or lemon juice required to bring out the flavor. I'm not sure what happened to you guys. Maybe it was an off night, or I ordered the wrong items, but I have to go from 5 to 3 stars for the time being.

    (3)
  • Janssen A.

This review is a combination of the 2 times I've been there. First time was at lunch and I had two of the fish tacos, which were ridiculously good. Came back tonight, ordered one grouper and one pork mole. They were bland and the toppings were extremely lacking compared to the first time. Two different, times of day, servers, and cooks. Based off tonight, I'd never come back but since the first time was so good, I'll give it a third try. I'd recommend going during lunch, seems like a better cook. For the record, neither time were they busy, so no excuses. It's about consistency. If I were basing this off tonight, only 1 star. Hopefully, just an off night.

DON"T EAT HERE! The quality has gone down hill in the last month, ever since most of the staff left. This morning, we were treated to (4) cockroaches crawling across the bar in front of us while we were waiting for our Taco Tuesday Special. When my Wife, a trained Exterminator, took the condiment container to show the Manager, a 1-1/2" long mommy cockroach crawled out with an egg sack full of young'uns!! She freaked everyone out!! When my Wife volunteered to help solve the problem, the staff said they've had problems for quite some time, and the Day Manager and Owner never returned her call to help. We almost heaved it was so bad. --- A FORMER LOYAL JIMMY'S TACO CUSTOMER

Excellent food! So much variety in the way everything is prepared! Will definitely be back to try more things! I had the portobello taco supreme and hubby had a regular taco with beef and a mahi mahi taco. They were both great! Dying to try the chips and salsa next time

    (5)
  • Antoinina P.

I come to Jimmy's Tacos at least once a week! The staff is extremely nice, and the food hot and delicious! Tacos at Jimmy's are always great! I CRAVE the mahi mahi tacos all week, I'm addicted, and the guacamole is to die for! They have daily specials, including regular dinner and lunch specials! Brought my Aunt for lunch, a well traveled foodie from Cleveland, and she raved about the food! I Love Jimmy's!

  • Shereen C.

I rarely, if ever, craved tacos before coming here. I visit Punta Gorda, FL pretty often. Whenever I go I make it a point to eat here at least twice. The prices are unbelievably low and the food is exceptionally good. The ingredients used are so fresh you can taste it. Everything I've had here has been amazing. The ground beef tacos, the chicken mole burrito, the taco salad with grilled chicken, the taco salad with ground beef, the salsas, the chips, all delicious. The service is impeccable, Sarah is too sweet and the other young woman I was waited on by last night is a total sugar pie. I've been asked by every employee I've seen there how the food and service were. All of the staff make you feel welcomed. I can't say enough good things about this taco shack. It's a cozy, hole in the wall that has an amazing product to offer. The only thing that could be improved are the beans. The pinto, refried, and black beans need to cook a bit longer and need major flavor as they are lacking any. Other than that, bravo!

    (5)
  • Susan S.

What. A. Disappointment. I've heard a few people talk about liking this place so I thought I'd check it out for myself. Big mistake. Since it's a hole in the wall joint, and I love those, I was hoping it would be some decent food. Not even close. I ordered the pork mole taco. It was shredded pork with some garlic. Big whup. That's not mole. No napkins or napkin holder on my table so I got up and grabbed some from another table. Two of the three bottles of hot sauce were completely empty -- indicative that you need to dump a bunch of sauce on the taco to give it flavor. I generously used the one bottle of sauce that had anything in it. The wedge of lime would not give up even a single drop of juice to add some zip to the taco. For $4.25 for taco, I expect a bit more. The only thing good about my meal? My Corona was cold. When my server asked me how my food was, I told her it was quite disappointing and overpriced for what I got. She never apologized, or offered any positive words, but made some comment under her breath as she walked away. I told her that she asked about my food and I answered her. I ate my taco, paid my bill, left an almost 20% tip, and got out of there, never to return. Now I need to go get something to eat. Maybe my expectations were a bit high, having eaten some really great tacos from food trucks and hole in the wall places all over the country. Live and learn.

RUN! Do not stop and eat. They are totally infested with food cockroaches. This is not a joke! The food borne Illnesses and bacteria from these things are grotesque!

  • Elijah K.

Ok my friend has been saying how great this place is for about a year. I tried the white chicken portobello, al pastor, and the steak soft corn tacos. I was warned the portions are larger than your average taco. Well this was true. I almost got 4 and barely could finish the three I ordered. So filling!!! The flavor was great and the meats are perfectly cooked. I would recommend the regular and the salsa on the side. My opinion the salsa took away from all the other quality flavors. Also ordered chips and queso. The queso was on par with most places. The chips were more Tex Mex style. I just prefer a different style chip, but that's just me. Overall very happy with it all! Service was great and it just gave you that great dive feel. If you are within 20 min of the place, I would say make the trip. I'll be back next time I'm in Florida.

Taco Tuesdays....YES!! Corona light on tap!! YeS! Tacos any type...any way, flour or corn soft or crunchy, had blacken grouper, cheeseburger taco, steak, mahi, mahi....Tacos are stuffed! White quest and guac were great size for 4-6 peeps...love this Place!! Definitely going back!!

We do enjoy Jimmy's Tacos! I had 2 supreme ground beef tacos on soft flour shells. My husband had 1 regular chorizo taco, 1 pork, and 1 supreme ground beef. We checked in on FB and received 10% off our check. Service was great.

  • Elisa A.

Awesome chorizo and fish tacos!!!!!! Really delicious.... Service ok ... But I would go back just for the great tacos

My family and I were the first guests of the day for lunch, but quickly became busier. Our waitress Sarah was very attentive and helpful with her suggestions. I had the surf and turf burrito which was stuffed with nice fresh ingredients, and was delish! My husband had a chicken bacon ranch taco which, again was very good! We loves the rojo salsa! The yelp coupon was a bargain too :)

Great place for some great hole in the wall Mexican food. Very fresh and authentic Mexican you can taste. Definitely seeing myself come back here again whenever I'm in town.

UGH! Terrible. Totally disappointed by the whole experience. We wanted to sit outside but the girl at the bar was overwhelmed with 3 at the bar and 1 take out order so we sat inside thinking it would be quicker. Wrong. We waited way too long for tacos and the foods was horrible. Will not be going back!

Great chips and guacamole. And HUGE burritos! Had the chicken bacon ranch and the grilled veggie. Both were very flavorful.

Had the cheeseburger taco Supreme greatest taco I've ever . My friend had the grouper taco great fish any time I come back this is definitely a place in coming back to

We are Veteran owned and operated and we cook everything made to order, nothing is a quick meal, because I only want to give my customers only the freshest food we can make, fresh salsas everyday guacamole freshly made, and meat seasoned to perfection, and we top all of our food to your liking , not what we like on it. So if you want fast food then skip us, but if you want a great meal and ice cold drinks, then come on in and see us, we also give a Veteran discount 10% with military Id.

  • Jennifer G.

The tacos were very good, but my husband was disappointed by the nachos, which were covered in that velveeta-like cheese you get at county fairs. They seem to strive for authenticity, so why use fake cheese?

    (3)
  • Renee S.

Great Mexican food!! A little pricey but worth it. The staff is always friendly and I have ate there so much that they know my name (and what I order). I love that you can order a vegan dish without having to ask them to make one for you :)

  • Dina C.

This is an adorable and very casual place. Come here for fresh, yummy, and cheap tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Their salsa verde was very fresh but also very watery and tasteless. I would definitely try the other salsas next time. The guacamole was exceptional and only $3.50 for a very large portion (see my pic). I really liked this place and would probably make this a regular stop for a Mexican fix if I lived in this area. I really liked that the tacos came with fresh cilantro, tomatoes, and salsa instead of the typical tomato crap from a can topped with gloppy cheese.

  • Brian H.

Had to update my review. This place has gotten even better each time I've eaten here. The service is vastly improved, and wasn't really bad in the first place. I've tried many if their tacos and they're all good. I only wish I hadn't moved farther away. I'd eat here every week if I could. I hope they keep up the great work. Very pleased to see them continue to get even better.

Fresh fish tacos! Delicious queso and chips. Gigantic burritos. Delightful quesadillas. A little hole in the wall taco stand, offering indoor seating, outdoor seating, and take out. There is also an outdoor bar to enjoy while you wait for your food. It doesn't look like it would have great food, but what taco stand does ;)

I was puzzled. After all the reviews I thought it would be great. Seemed like an off night. Ordered the steak burrito. Toppings were very good, fresh - but fell short on the meat portion size. I mentioned this to waiter. Made it right on bill. Also got the guac and it was not what I expected. Again, seemed off. After all the reviews I believe this was just a bad night for them. Server was very friendly and nice. Later conversed with the owner. Very humble and passionate person. Proud of what she is doing. Very interested in hearing feedback and making ongoing improvements as every business should consistently be doing. First class person. I will definately give this place another shot on an ON day! ;)

This place has good food. They tell you 15-20 mins, but make sure to add at least another 20 mins onto it. No matter how slow they are and make sure to check your order.

We found Jimmy's on Yelp as we were headed home to Atlanta from Ft Meyers Beach. We were starving as didn't want roadside fast food. How lucky we were to have found this place. Amazingly fresh tacos and quick. Wish we had one of these at home.

This is a great choice! The Chicken bacon ranch Burrito was huuge. You have to eat half of it with a fork before you're able to pick it up. And the ingredients were fresh! Loved the white queso and guac. Portobello tacos are a great option for the veg heads. My wife loved them. In fact we just came back from cozumel and she said this was the best Mexican food of the vacation.

Wonderful food and service!!! Such a quaint place with a large impact on your taste buds! By far one of the best taco and nachos I've ever had!! Top it off with a dos Equis amber and it's heaven!!

My husband and I go fishing almost every Saturday with our 5 and 9 year old sons. It's tradition to come to Jimmy Tacos immediately after. We love their fresh ingredients and our server, Sam, is amazing! She knows what we want before we ask. Love this place!

Very good. Their usual cook was missing and that probably explains the over-cooked steak and fish in the tacos. The habanero salsa was hot as hell and tasty. Catch this place on a better day and it's a five, I'd bet.

Totally not the best taco place in the world, not very authentic for sure. Yes tasty, yes I ate two chicken tacos that were loaded, but two tacos in a basket for almost $10 it just ridiculous. I could get 3 tacos with rice and beans at Chilis, as equally tasty for $8, and this place is about as Mexican as Chilis for that matter. It has a nice vibe, very "hole-in-the-wall", but you'll be paying a price that doesn't reflect that locale feeling. Overall food is good, but no value for $ here.

Hands down, the best tacos I've ever had. Love the chicken and chorizo on flour tortilla with everything it comes with. Soooo freaking good! If you like Mexican style tacos you will love this place. I have made a trip here every time I've been in town visiting a friend.

The recent negative review from a former employee piqued my curiosity, as I've had good meals there several times before. I went there two nights ago and just had three simple American tacos with a side of beans. The beans came in a huge bowl and I couldn't finish them all. I ordered guacamole and sour cream on the side. The service was prompt and friendly. They've tripled their space since the last time I was there. Regarding the criticism about produce not being USDA inspected, I'm sure the health department will look in to that now, but I see that as an advantage that produce is locally sourced and as long as it's healthy, I totally support doing that. The food is great and I will be back.

We found this place driving through town thanks to Yelp. Good thing we did. Great tacos. We had the Chicken bacon ranch and sweet chili tacos. Both were great but the sweet chili was our favorite! The cilantro on top of the tracks was awesome too.

Driving home from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale and needed a break and some food! I got off I-75 in the Punta Gorda area and hit up Yelp for a recommendation. True to form, my fellow Yelpers did not let me down! I must mention that I eat a plant based diet (so hold the meat for me), this makes it a bit of a challenge when going to new places. Jimmy's had portobello as one of their proteins in their tacos and burritos, it was love at first read! So I order a soft taco, portobello. It was brought out shortly and boy was it delicious! Luckily they brought a fork to scoop anything that drops out, otherwise I would have been eating all those goodies with my hands. The flavors were amazing! I came home and told my husband about it, since he travels to the Tampa area for work. He already knew about it and raved about it too. I will be back if ever I travel to this area again!!! Go there, write a review, so I can dream about eating there again.

Chicken tinga tacos are really good -it's a spicy pulled chicken not something you'll find everywhere. The blackened grouper tacos are a treat as well with some tasty toppings. We found the guacamole a little bland, but learned that we could have asked to have it spicier. This is a friendly locally owned place for some good food. You can eat inside or outside- but eating outside means you are basically eating alongside the parking lot- inside is probably a better choice unless it is a beautiful day and you can't stand missing the sun.

You have never had tacos like these before. Cilantro, tomatoes, etc. Get the supreme!

We went to Jimmy's off of the recommendation of a friend. When we read the reviews we were certain we would like it. Oops! First, I am not a food "critic' who just looks for things not to like. My favorite types of places are similar to Jimmy's...mom/pop and local. My favorite Mexican cafe's (in a small fishing village in Mexico) floor is half-dirt! Honest! I had the fish tacos and my wife had a taco salad. We ordered the salsa and chips. It was disappointment all around. First the salsa. It was a thin green liquid that would barely stay on the chips. We asked the waitress if the red was chunky style she said not, it was the same just red. I have never had salsa like this. Perhaps some locale in Mexico this is the norm. It also had zero flavor. The spice was absent. Wife's taco salad arrive in a bowl, no taco shell. Instead they placed nacho chips around the edge of the plate. So basically their taco salad is hopped up nachos. Taste was okay but lacking several ingredients we would expect in a taco salad. My fish tacos were the worst I have ever had, and I am not comparing them to California, which seems to have the best going. First, there was almost no lettuce. They have put so much green salsa on it that the entire bit felt like mush. The fish lacked taste, almost like boiled fish. Will I go back? Don't know. If I do I surely will not get the salsa, nor fish tacos. Maybe some of the other dishes would be better. Maybe stick to regular tacos would be okay but I fear they hit it with that green liquid. I found it a bit expensive for what we got. Even though we were there on Friday with a discount for the second taco, the bill with drinks came to just over $22. It's too bad the trip didn't turn out. We like to support mom/pop cafes. Sadly, this one probably will be of our list.

Found this place on yelp, as we were visiting in the area. Our attempt at lunch here was a disaster. Maybe the sign outside that said the place was under renovation should have clued us in, but we stayed longer than we should have. Our chips and guacamole came about 35 minutes after we ordered and after waiting a total of 60 minutes we left without getting the tacos and burritos we ordered. The chips were hard, not freshly made and the guac had more onions and tomatoes than avocado.

Just left Jimmy's tacos, taco Tuesday, buy three get one free. The green salsa on the tacos is very good, strong, but very good. Not for the faint of heart. My favorite was the mahi-mahi taco. Two gluten-free beers, gluten-free friendly. Shrimp tacos were very good too. Overall a good decent but not awesome taco place. Fun for the family, worth the trip.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
